Do you sometimes feel that the day is as confusing as it is long? Well, if you're doing what most parents are doing, then most likely, you're at least a little bit confused. You see, most parents really want to be the best parent possible. So, most parents will do whatever is necessary to take care of their children to the best of their abilities, even if that means reading a bunch of those parenting how-to-books and blogs. But, you see, here is where the problem lays; a lot of the parenting experts contradict each other. So, how do we ordinary people know which parenting experts to listen to?

Now, I don't claim to know everything about parenting. And it's still kind of weird when some people refer to me as a parenting expert. I certainly have my faults just like we all do. But I also have five children. And, I have been a school teacher of many, many other parents' children for a long, long time. So, with all that kid experience under my belt, here are a few common sense things that I think I have learned over the years that hopefully, you will find useful.

One, DON'T go overboard reading all those parenting how-to-manuals. DO take your kids to the park and spend some quality time with them while keeping your phones turned off. DON'T take that phone out during this quality time of playing with your children. These are just a couple simple but effective do and don'ts. So don't worry about everything that is weighing on you right now. And do just simply play and enjoy your playtime with your children.

Now, as my Granddaddy always said, "Go learn, learn, lead and lay the way to a better world for all of us." Remember that playing with our kids is probably one of the most important things we can do as a parent, as well as one of the only things we all really need to know. And once again parents, thanks in advance for all that you do, and all that you will do...
